While we use too many antioxidants to mention in just one article, there are 3 key antioxidants that you’ll find in all our products due to their incredible rejuvenating, healing and anti-aging properties.
Keep reading to learn more about each one and at the end we’ve included a recipe where you can drink your antioxidants too!
Kakadu Plum
A potent antioxidant from the wilds of Northern Australia, kakadu plum is one of the world’s highest fruit sources of Vitamin C, in fact, it contains 20 times more Vitamin C than you’ll find in an orange!
Vitamin C is absolutely excellent for a healthy, clear and youthful skin as it helps to reduce inflammation that may contribute to problem skin conditions, as well as boost collagen production for a firmer, plumper skin that ages beautifully.
Along with Vitamin C, kakadu plum contains Vitamin E to help neutralize free radicals and aid in tissue repair, along with phytochemicals, namely ellagic acid and gallic acid. Ellagic acid may help to slow down and prevent wrinkle formation, as it inhibits matrix metalloproteinase (MMP), an enzyme that signals collagen breakdown. Gallic acid has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties and together with anti-inflammatory Vitamin C, works wonderfully o to soothe and heal inflammatory skin conditions such as acne or eczema. You’ll find this small fruit with a powerful punch in 8 of our products.
Aloe
We adore the healing, soothing, antibacterial and moisturising properties of this powerful plant. Aloe contains an array of incredible nutrients for the skin including Vitamin A, B complex, Vitamin C Vitamin E, amino acids, enzymes and antioxidants. Ancient Egyptians even considered it the “plant of immortality!”
Aloe is best known for its powerful soothing and hydrating properties, making it a must for sunburned skin and it may in fact speed up the healing process. Aloe is fantastic for controlling excess oil and fighting inflammation, making it a popular ingredient for problem skins, however it also has deep hydrating properties making it wonderful for dry skin types too. Aloe’s rich concentration of antioxidants, not only heals problem skin conditions, it helps to ward off free radicals that may speed up the signs of aging. Currently, 11 of our products contain this ancient remedy!
Pomegranate
We love munching on pomegranate seeds and enjoying their lovely sweetness, but did you know pomegranate is an ingredient you definitely want to apply to your skin too?
Pomegranate is a potent wrinkle-fighter, as it is high in polyphenols and powerful antioxidants to fight off free radicals that age the skin by breaking down important structural proteins, namely collagen and elastin. Pomegranate is also brimming in Vitamin C, our favourite beauty vitamin, for reducing inflammation, fighting free radicals and brightening the skin overall.
There’s one thing, however, that really makes pomegranate unique and that is its ability to enhance the effectiveness of sunscreens by 25%!
If you want to get your hands on these ingredients, then you’ll be happy to know that they are in all of our products, here at Stem Organics!
