3 Popular Winter Drinks Made Healthy

Posted by Nat Royal on

Nothing warms us up on a chilly day quite like a cozy mug of hot chocolate, topped with marshmallows of course!

While indulging in a naughty drink from time to time is not a problem, it's called balance, stopping at your local Cafe every morning before work for your sugary latte can start to create some problems with your health and your skin too.

You shouldn't have to say goodbye to warm winter drinks, and with these healthy recipes you won't have to!

Sugar Free Extra Creamy Hot Cocoa

Sugar free hot chocolate sounds pretty frightening, but there are healthier alternatives for refined white sugar that taste just as good, and in fact won't make you miss the sugar at all. Maple syrup is one of our favourites, and it's filled with vitamins and minerals, especially zinc and manganese, which is excellent for healthy skin and anxiety.

This maple sea salt hot chocolate recipe is dairy free and sugar free and it is simple pure indulgence!

Creamy Dairy Free Latte

We all love sipping on lattes as we peruse our favourite shops or bookstore, but did you know that dairy is inflammatory, meaning it can contribute to inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema or psoriasis? It can also cause some issues within your body including sinus problems and even arthritis. It may seem impossible to enjoy a latte within dairy, that is until you try frothing creamy cashew, almond or coconut milk!

This gut-healing steaming hot latte still has your daily dose of caffeine, but without the sugar AND the dairy!

Hot Apple Cider

What’s better than coming in from a long (although chilly!) hike than sipping a hot cup of apple cider (or dare we say, Hot Toddy) in front of the fire? While apples are insanely good for you, store bought apple cider is often packed with sugar! Instead of this sugar spike, why not DIY it.

Try this homemade hot spiced apple cider filled with warming spices and fragrances of cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. Perfect for a cool Winters eve!
