3 DIY Exfoliating Face Masks For Spring
Posted by Stem Organics Admin on
Spring has arrived and with it comes a season of change and rebirth. Whatever the term “spring cleaning” may mean to you - whether it be an urge to redecorate your home, fill your fridge with fresh organic produce or brighten up your wardrobe - it’s also a good time to think about changing up your skincare routine.
With the change in temperatures comes a change in your skin. Over winter a natural buildup of dead skin occurs resulting in dull skin under the moisturizing creams we’ve all used to stay hydrated over the cooler season.
Your best solution to getting rid of these dead skin cells is to exfoliate your skin twice per week with natural, organic skin care. Or, if you enjoy a good DIY - you can try these 3 exfoliating face masks.
With ingredients like mint, lemon, and cucumber, these masks are cooling, rejuvenating, and purifying… a perfect balance for spring!
Yogurt and Mint Leaves Face Mask
Filled with lactic acid and zinc, yogurt is perfect for moisturizing and promoting healthy spring ready skin. When mixed with mint leaves which have powerful antioxidants that work to calm and balance dry, itchy skin, this exfoliating face mask will leave skin feeling fresh.
Ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 tbsp mint leaves, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp yogurt
How to make it: Mix the mint leaves and yogurt and apply over your freshly washed face. Leave the mask to dry, then rinse off with lukewarm water, and finish with a splash of cool water to close your pores.
Cucumber and Milk Mask
You’ve seen (and might have even used!) cucumber slices as an eye mask, but did you know cucumbers are great for your whole face? With its softening, smoothing, and cooling properties, this hydrating fruit is the perfect spring time skin care ingredient.
Ingredients you’ll need:
- 1/2 cucumber
- ¼ c milk
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
How to make it: Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and apply to your washed face, leave to dry, then wash off with lukewarm water, finish with cool water.
Lemon and Honey Face Mask
If you’re looking to get rid of dead skin cells, lemons are the perfect ingredient. They’re packed with AHA’s and BHA’s which clear acne, blackheads, and dark spots. Honey, with its amazing antibacterial and antioxidants is great for acne prevention, slowing the aging process, and even helps to create a lovely glow!
Ingredients you’ll need:
- ½ lemon
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 1 tsp brown sugar
How to make it: Combine all the ingredients, apply to your face avoiding the eye area, leave to dry (about 15 minutes), then wash off with lukewarm water and finish with cool water.
Note: when you’re buying the ingredients for your face masks, make sure to only go for organic as you’ll be putting them directly on your skin.
